Discover the Amazon like a true local on this immersive full-day experience combining rivers, wildlife, culture, and hands-on adventure.
After pickup from your hotel or the airport, we begin our journey toward the Marina Turística of Iquitos, a lively riverside hub. Here, you’ll visit a local market where Amazonian ingredients come to life—observe unique foods such as suri (Amazon larvae), river snails, caiman meat, exotic fruits, and traditional jungle bread known as veshú, made from yuca and vegetables.
Next, we climb to a viewpoint (mirador) for a panoramic view of the Nanay and Amazon Rivers. From here, we board a traditional Pamacari wooden boat and navigate to one of the most fascinating natural phenomena in the region: the confluence of the Nanay and Amazon Rivers, where you can clearly see the contrast between the dark waters of the Nanay and the brown “chocolate-colored” waters of the Amazon.
This area is also one of the best places near Iquitos to spot pink and gray river dolphins in their natural habitat.
We continue to Fundo Neiser, a licensed wildlife rescue center where you’ll learn about Amazonian fauna such as monkeys, sloths, anacondas, capybaras, parrots, and turtles.
From there, we head toward the Yanayacu River, traveling along a scenic road surrounded by towering rainforest trees. Here, you’ll board a canoe and paddle through the calm blackwater river, actively searching for wildlife like sloths and monkeys along the riverbanks.
After the canoe experience, enjoy a delicious box lunch in nature, followed by a fun piranha fishing activity.
In the afternoon, we begin our return journey to Iquitos, with another opportunity to spot river dolphins along the way.
